Now that the never-ending marathon of presentations and shows has come to a close (stateside), it’s time to take a look at what’s trending. As they are wont to do, many crazes carried over from Fall 2016. The 80s aren’t leaving us anytime soon, nor are cushy velvet pieces (despite the spring thaw).
Athleisure made less of a splash this season, although anoraks — the new bombers — are no longer reserved for rainy days. Denim too had a conspicuously smaller presence for Spring 2017 with designers turning to lighter, airier (read: sheer) fabrics or neutral khaki in its stead. And while women’s designers continued to borrow from the boys, they upped the sex appeal of gender-neutral dressing by subbing tailored shirts for Kendall Jenner’s perennial staple, the upscale bralette.
Overall, this season’s resounding cry was that skin, ruffles and updated trench coats are in. But why take our word for it? Feast your eyes on the slideshow above and take in the 18 spring fashion trends you’ll be sporting in 2017.
